Welcome back to school

recycle.bmpWe got back in routine this week after vacation week.  We did a lot of activities around different forces.  Students all enjoyed the centers that we did involving pushes, pulls, and magnetism.

Next week, we will do some activities on the Earth in celebration of Earth Day and finish up on our forces unit.

It was great to meet with you!

teacher.gif Thank you so much for taking the time out and coming in for a conference.  It was great to talk with you all again.  I was pleased to share your child's growth, academically and socially, and to set a goal for the end of the year.  If you were one of the conferences that we did not get to meet due to snow, we will find a time soon after vacation.  All students have come so far since the beginning of the year.  As I have said before, this is an awesome class and I have totally enjoyed every moment with them.  We will continue to have fun and to work hard in this last trimester of school.

THANK YOU!

All students should feel so proud as we raised $330.00 in the "Read to Feed" program through Heiffer International.  Students collected pledges for books read.  Our class was able to purchase a water buffalo, a flock of ducks and geese and a flock of chickens for a needy family.  We were also able to purchase a share of a goat, pig, sheep and rabbits.  I am waiting for a day with 100% attendance and then I will take a picture of the class to go into the local newspapers.  Stay tuned.

Happy spring break?????

1winter38-thumb.jpg I hope you have a wonderful spring break, even though the weather seems more like winter!  Enjoy the time with your awesome children!

Vacationing in Bubba Land!

All of the fish in our classroom are taking a vacation to Bubba Land.  They are now swimming in the large fish tank in the lobby of the classroom.

Job well done!

The students all did a wonderful job on their dinosaur presentations today at Friday morning meeting and in the classroom.  I was told by parents in the back of the gym that students were able to be heard.  In the classroom, students answered questions about their reports with ease.  One parent told me that he was unable to stump them with his questions!  It was a long unit but students learned a lot and could showcase their talent today!

Congratulations!

Each year our district has a Writer's Showcase contest.  Teachers are asked to submit five entries per class for judging.  The names are not visible on their papers and a panel of judges  picks the top writing pieces and then community judges pick the winner.  I am so pleased to report that our class had three finalists!  Congratulations to TomHenry in third grade and Emma and Madalyn in second grade!  I told the class that the decision was very difficult because we have a great community of authors in our class.  I had to give ten entries to three different people for me to decide which five to submit.  This class has done a wonderful job writing and we are so pleased to have three or the top writing submissions from all the classes at KES and Consolidated.  Congratulations to TomHenry, Emma and Madalyn and to all the authors of the multiage class!

Please come to Friday Morning Meeting!

dinosaur5.gif Tomorrow, students will be doing a parade of dinosaurs at Friday Morning Meeting.  Each student will say a few facts about their dinosaur and then you are invited back to our room to view the hard work students did on their reports.  We are open for business until lunchtime!  See you there!
