Have you seen our new IMac lab?

computer.gif

We have a new IMac lab at Consolidated.  The computers run on a dual platform. Today in computer class, all I kept hearing was how sick the new computers are!  That was quite a rave review from the kids.

We have also gotten four of the old machines for use in our classroom instead of the Linux machines that were in there.  I am hoping that will give some more versatility to this mini lab.

Next time you are in Consolidated, stop in and see the new lab.  Check out how sick it is!

Walking field trip

I will not be able to send a reminder home so I thought I would remind you via this blog that students will be walking to Graves Library on Tuesday.  Mrs. Vennell and Mrs. Beckersley, my substitute, will be accompanying them.  They will leave right after recess.  They will miss DEAR time and library time but I am sure they will be making up that at Graves Library.  It is such a treasure to have such a wonderful library in Kennebunkport.  Please be sure your child is dressed appropriately for the weather that day.  Thank you.

What authors we have!

delta.jpg

We had an unexpected break today from our writing when we took the time out of our day to visit a couple from Arkansas that are seeing the world via a mule drawn carriage.  They plan to spend about twenty years of their lives seeing the United States and the world.  Students were able to meet their mule, Delta, and learned  about mules and saw their carriage and how they are living.  We also looked at a map to see where they have traveled and how long it has taken.  It was a little unusual but it was an interesting look at a different lifestyle.

We have been spending a lot of time finalizing our plans for our class book on the river trip.  Students have been working really hard collaborating together on their writing and working on their final drafts.  They are learning what it takes to publish a book but the end result is going to be amazing!  I can't wait until we get it back.  The writing is almost complete so next week , we will be working on the illustrations.

If you haven't had a chance to see the self-portratis hanging in the hall outside our classroom.  You can view them online at http://staff.msad71.net/cdefilipp/homepage.htm.  You can also view Joanne Abram's website on guidance at http://www.kport.org/Guidance/

I will be out on Monday and Tuesday.  I know I will miss the class and I will look forward to seeing them on Wednesday.  Have a great weekend.
