What a busy time this month has been for Technology at Consolidated!

SmartBoards Arrive! 

We returned from our summer break to find a few large boxes stacked in the hall. These boxes contain SmartBoards for our classrooms 4 & 5! Many are now hanging from the classroom walls and awaiting further installation. It is exciting for students and teachers to have these wonderful tools in their classrooms! Now all classes at Consolidated School will have a SmartBoard! 

During the month of October [on ERWednesdays], the teachers who received SmartBoards this year will attend workshops for SmartBoard Training.  

Keyboarding! 

 We started September in the lab practicing finger exercises with the mouse, logging in and keyboarding.

Our grades use the following software:

1. Kindergarten use the program KidKeys.

2. First, second, and third grade use Ultra Key 4.0.

3. Fourth and fifth began this year using Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing ver. 11.
   
   

NEW:  This year all students in grades 1 to 5 will have one or possibly two extra lab times scheduled just for keyboarding!!

NWEA Testing in October

 Students in grades 3-4-5 will have NWEA fall testing in the lab beginning in October. Testing is typically done in the morning only, so it is critical that students are here on time. If a student is late and testing has begun, they will need to participate in a scheduled makeup test. Your classroom teacher will send home a note notifying you of the testing schedule.

Please check with your child's classroom teacher to see if you can help with their class in computer lab. We could always use an extra pair of hands!

    Everyone at Consolidated School is thrilled with our iMac lab! Each year brings new experiences, as teachers work on their individual class projects with their students.

    United Streaming is also a big hit in the lab, as well as in the classroom. From Martin Luther King Jr. to the study of mammals - the United Streaming website has it all. Their videos are welcomed tie-ins with teacher's curriculum.
