January
Welcome back from vacation! I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season. In the art room we will be finishing up our focus on color. Most classes have worked on color mixing and painting techniques. For the New Year our concentration will be in landscape art, the study of space, pattern and texture. After the kindergarten children finish their Paul Klee castles, they will be learing more about warm and cool colors, collage construction and printmaking. In first grade we'll be studying Grandma Moses and Charles Burchfield and then we'll create our own winter landscapes. Second grade students and Mrs. Naimey's multi-age classes will be making winter action scenes and later studying Gustav Klimt. Thrid grade classes will be creating sillouette landscapes and fourth grade will be making black and white sidewalk scenes. Fourth grade students will later study the idea of containers and create their own unique containers, Fifth grade and Mr. Chapman's multi-age classes will be studying African American collage artist Romare Bearden and then will make their own memory collages in his style. So as you can see, the art room will be very busy this winter! Please feel free to stop by any time and visit- but becareful, we'll probably put you to work!
